Almost three years ago, I made the decision to start my blog and was taxed with the decision to choose my niche. Being a travel blogger was out because I did not travel much. I like to dress nice but not enough to solely become a fashion blogger. I am not a mom or a person that can create recipes so that those niches are thrown to the curb. Because I am a very randomly sporadic person, I knew that I did not want to stick to just one topic so, it only made sense to choose the Lifestyle niche.
When I chose this niche I never researched it and thought that I could just talk about whatever I want.
Basically, I have been doing just that.
This year I decided to turn my hobby into a possible second gig and then more possibly a full-time opportunity. This goal urged me to define what I needed to do to align with my purpose. Be Your Own Kind is all about lifestyle as we are creating our individual paths to live our best life, right?
This is all good in theory but I wasn’t sure if I was living my best life and even if I were, was I willing to share it with everybody? When I go places, I never think of recording videos or taking pictures. I am now learning that I am actually missing connecting with people which is partially due to the fear of putting myself out there. By putting myself out there, it means that I would need to find a lane and then consistently drive down that lane.
Consistency is not my gig. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Gemini or if I am, well, a Gemini. I am air, I like to flow and most importantly I am not too keen to routine. This year I worked against the grain and have been consistent, which led me to wonder more about my brand and direction.
The first step would be finding out what on earth a Lifestyle blogger is.
A lifestyle blog is best defined as a digital content representation of its author’s everyday life and interests. A lifestyle blogger creates content inspired and curated by their personal interests and daily activities.
So after reading this, I realized that maybe I should share more of my life. Who knew that a lifestyle blogger was more than thoughts and feelings? With this information, I started a Youtube channel which I think now makes me a vlogger? Being a vlogger now urges me to not only take pictures but record some aspects of my life. With this in mind, I purchased a cheap camcorder, I hope to remember to bring with me. So no worries I am not panicking at all.
I am actually looking forward to meeting new people and finding new adventures to share. Pushing myself to become an actual lifestyle blogger will definitely pop me out my bubble; but don’t you fret because I will still write about feelings and emotions.
Are you a lifestyle blogger? If so, do you have any pointers that will help me with this transition?
